SCHOOL BUILDING CLOSED

Updated: Nov 19, 2020

Dear Families,

We just received the official notification from the DOE that the school building will be closed UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE. Once again, we have been waiting on this information from DOE all day.

At this time, we now have at least six cases at our school - the case of a teacher that was reported on 11/10, three cases we learned of on Sunday, 11/15, one case we learned of yesterday, 11/16, and an additional case we learned of today, 11/17. If you have signed up for an NYC schools account, you will be receiving information from Test + Trace about this closure as well.

While we are in the process of notifying the impacted class’ families, NYC Test + Trace and DOH are still working on these cases. As always, when we have new information we will share it with you as soon as possible.

Instructional Plan for Wednesday, November 18th - Wednesday, November 25th:

(Note that there is NO SCHOOL on Thursday, 11/26 and Friday, 11/27 for Thanksgiving.)

  • Classroom teachers have planned a balanced schedule of synchronous and asynchronous instruction for both cohorts (combined), that will begin each day with a Morning Circle at 8:30am.

  • Please check your child’s Google Classroom for your instructional plan and Zoom links for each day.

  • Your teacher will always communicate the plan for the day verbally at Morning Circle, so if you don’t see any checklists or new information in Google Classroom the evening before, know that each day’s information will be shared by or during Morning Circle.

  • Both cohorts should log on for Morning Circle tomorrow, and every day during this building closure, using the Zoom link provided by your classroom teacher in Google Classroom.

We know that this is an incredibly challenging time, and that our blended learning students will be so disappointed not to be able to return to school at this time. Please know that we will be supporting your children emotionally as well as academically throughout this time. Reach out to your child’s classroom teacher and/or ILTquestions@ps29bk.org with any questions or information you need to share. We are here for you and hoping that everyone stays safe.

Sincerely,

Rebecca and the Instructional Leadership Team
