Arrival and Dismissal

Please take a moment to read all the information below related to your child’s grade.

All doors to school open at 8:28 AM

Please note that parents will not be allowed into the school building (or school lobby) before the doors open at 8:28AM in the morning, or before 2:45 PM in the afternoon for pick up.

EARLY drop-off + Breakfast Information: 

FREE breakfast is available daily to all children. Breakfast is served in the cafeteria, starting at 7:30 AM and ending at 8:10 AM.

Security Notice:

All school doors (aside from main entrance doors) ARE ALARMED and the alarms WILL GO OFF if doors are opened. When visiting the building at any time, you are required to enter/exit ONLY THROUGH THE FRONT MAIN ENTRANCE DOORS. This is for the safety of our students. 

  

Further, parents/caregivers may not re-enter the school building through the school yard doors. Parents and caregivers must walk around the school building and use the front entrance, where our security guard is stationed, in order to enter the school building at all times. This is for the safety of our students and staff members.

PreK

Kindergarten

Grade 1

Grade 2

Grades 3, 4 + 5

Pre-Kindergarteners 

 

Arrival: 8:30 AM / Dismissal 2:45 PM

All Pre-K families enter the school through the main entrance on Henry Street. The doors to the school open at 8:28 AM sharp.

For safety reasons, families are not allowed to wait inside the lobby area of the school. We need to allow for access into and out of the building, as teachers and staff members arrive for work, and thus we ask that you wait to the side on the sidewalk.

 

For the first day of school ONLY (Thursday, September 5th), PreK students will have a half-day, with dismissal at 11:45 AM.

IMPORTANT SAFETY POLICY: If you are picking up another child in grades 1-5, we ask that you exit the building through the front entrance and walk around the school building to the schoolyard where students in grades 1-5 are picked up. Families should not walk through the school, down the back stairwells, or exit the schoolyard doors directly into the schoolyard as many classes are being dismissed in these areas at that time.

Further, parents/caregivers may not re-enter the school building through the schoolyard doors. Parents and caregivers must walk around the school building and use the front entrance where our security guard is stationed in order to enter the school building. This is for the safety of our students and staff members.

Kindergarteners

New! Kindergarten students will have a FULL-DAY for the first day of school, Thursday, September 5th.

1st Graders

Arrival: 8:30 AM / Dismissal 2:50 PM

For the first three days of school ONLY (September 5th, 6th and 9th), drop off and pick up will take place at the classroom. Parents/caregivers will walk their child upstairs to drop them off at their 1st grade classrooms in the morning, and meet them back at the classroom door for pick up at 2:50. Parents should remain in the hallway during dismissal, and the teacher will call your child to meet you.

 

First grade students enter through the side school doors on Baltic Street and go directly up to the 3rd floor. Doors will open at 8:28 AM and close at 8:35 AM. Supervision is in place to assist students as they go up to their classrooms on their own. Parents will not be permitted to escort their child to classrooms beginning September 10th.

Beginning Tuesday, September 10th, dismissal will take place in the schoolyard at 2:50 PM. We ask that parents /caregivers wait to enter the school yard until a staff member opens the gates at 2:50 PM. Students will line up for pick-up inside the school yard on the Baltic Street side of the schoolyard in class order. There will be signs posted with class numbers and teachers' name.

*Please be on time as we have very limited staff to watch kids after teachers dismiss at 2:50 PM. Please also note that parents/caregivers may not enter the school building at any time through the schoolyard doors. Parents and caregivers must walk around the school building and use the front entrance where our security guard is stationed in order to enter the school building.This is for the safety of our students and staff members.

2nd Graders

 

Arrival: 8:30 AM / Dismissal 2:50 PM

For the first two days of school ONLY (September 5th and 6th), drop off will take place at the classroom. Parents/caregivers will walk their child upstairs to drop them off at their 2nd grade classrooms in the morning.

Second grade students enter through the side school doors on Kane Street and go directly up to the 3rd/4th floors. Doors will open at 8:28 AM and close at 8:35 AM. Supervision is in place to assist students as they go up to their classrooms on their own. Parents will not be permitted to escort their child to classrooms beginning September 9th.

3rd, 4th and 5th Graders

 

Arrival: 8:30 AM / Dismissal 2:50 PM

Please line up in the school yard at your class spot starting at 8:25AM–look for signs with class number and your teacher’s name. Students will go up to their classroom with the classroom teacher on September 5th and 6th.  Beginning Monday, September 9th, staff members will supervise students as they line up in the yard by class at their class spot and enter the building on their own.

Dismissal will take place in the schoolyard at 2:50 PM. We ask that parents/caregivers wait to enter the school yard until a staff member opens the gates at 2:50 PM. Once the gates open, parents/caregivers can pick up students from their class spot.

 

Dismissal Spots: 

o    3rd grade—along the benches/trees near the school building

o    4th grade—along the back wall mural, Kane Street side

o    5th grade—along the back wall mural, Baltic Street side
