Book Fair Begins This Week!

Writer's picture: Susannah SperrySusannah Sperry

Starting this week, your children will visit our annual Book Fair with their classes. Please check the schedule of class visits below. The Book Fair is open Nov 14-15 and Nov 18-22. We need your help to make sure our book fair is a success! Please sign up to volunteer, and come by to do some early holiday shopping! We'll be open November 14 during parent-teacher conferences, and we'll have a new gift-wrapping station at this year's book fair!

Among the wonderful books available at the fair are: A Likkle Miss Lou by Nadia L. Hohn, a recent lower grade read aloud, and Best Babysitters Ever by Caroline Cala. Cala will be visiting fourth and fifth grade classes to discuss her writing process next week.  Some other important reminders: If you'd like your children to buy books, please send them to school on the day of their visit with CASH (small bills) in an envelope that has their name on it. Please note that during class visits, no change will be given. All proceeds go back to support the many enrichments that we enjoy at PS29.

Please volunteer

We need assistance from parents to make sure that class visits run smoothly, and to keep the book fair open at other hours!

Make a donation to help PS 29 teachers buy books for their classrooms. You can donate online or at the book fair.

Also, please attend a special PTA Meeting on Thursday, Nov 21, at 6:30 p.m. in our school auditorium. Join Dr. Fagin and our PTA as we invite Dr. Carolyn Strom, clinical professor of literacy at NYU, to lead a discussion on developmental phases of reading and practical strategies that families can employ to support their children with reading at home.  Please RSVP here.

We're looking forward to celebrating PS 29's love of reading with you!

Best, Matt and Olivia
