Dear Families,

In an effort to keep our community safe, and to prevent classroom closures following the Thanksgiving Recess, we ask that you please review the recommendations shared by the CDC, particularly for those of you who are traveling. While many of our students (age 5-11) have received their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccination, our students will not be fully vaccinated until 2 weeks after their second dose.

Thank you so much for your partnership in keeping our school healthy.

We wish you all a happy holiday!

PS 29 Staff and PTA

DOMESTIC TRAVEL

  • Delay travel until you are fully vaccinated.

  • Check your destination’s COVID-19 situation before traveling. State, local, and territorial governments may have travel restrictions in place.

  • Wearing a mask over your nose and mouth is required in indoor areas of public transportation (including airplanes) and indoors in U.S. transportation hubs (including airports).

  • Do not travel if you have been exposed to COVID-19, you are sick, or if you test positive for COVID-19.

  • If you are not fully vaccinated and must travel, get tested both before and after your trip.

INTERNATIONAL TRAVEL

  • Do not travel internationally until you are fully vaccinated.

  • Check your destination’s COVID-19 situation and travel requirements before traveling. Countries may have their own entry and exit requirements.

  • When you travel to the United States by air, you are required to show a negative COVID-19 test result or documentation of recovery from COVID-19 before you board your flight. The timing of this test depends on your vaccination status and age.

  • Wearing a mask over your nose and mouth is required in indoor areas of public transportation (including airplanes) traveling into, within, or out of the United States and indoors in U.S. transportation hubs (including airports).

ALL TRAVELERS

  • Get tested with a COVID-19 viral test 3-5 days after travel.

  • Self-monitor for COVID-19 symptoms; isolate and get tested if you develop symptoms.

  • Follow all state and local recommendations or requirements after travel.

TESTING

It is recommended that you test if you:

  • Have symptoms of COVID-19.

  • Have come into close contact with someone with COVID-19.

  • Fully vaccinated people should be tested 5–7 days after their last exposure.

  • People who are not fully vaccinated should get tested immediately when they find out they are a close contact. If their test result is negative, they should get tested again 5–7 days after their last exposure or immediately if symptoms develop.

  • Are unvaccinated and have taken part in activities that put you at higher risk for COVID-19 because you cannot physically distance as needed to avoid exposure, such as travel, attending large social or mass gatherings, or being in crowded or poorly-ventilated indoor settings.

  • Have been asked or referred to get tested by your healthcare provider, or state, tribal, local or territorial health department.

Thank you to our first grade team and students, and all our families,

for their contributions to this year's food drive.

Happy Thanksgiving to all!
