School Tour: December 7th!

PS 29’s Open House and Information Session for zoned families will be on December 7th, 2018 at 9 AM.  Please note that this is an adult only event.

How long does the tour and information session last?

The Open House and Information Session last about an hour and a half in total.

I can’t attend the PS 29 tour, could I schedule a private tour?

We only allow visits during our official school tour.  We are unable to accommodate requests for private tours.

We are moving to NYC from abroad, what do we do to register?

Please contact parent coordinator Monica Gutierrez ps29pc@gmail.com if you are moving from a different city or a different country.  She can help you navigate the system and answer any questions.

Hour of Code is Back!

Students in grades 1-5 will be joining the worldwide computer science celebration during our Hour of Code events December 3-14! Visit hourofcode.com/us to learn about this amazing event, and be on the look out for a note from Ms. Sperry that details all the great computer science learning that is happening at 29!

Wythe Hotel Dinner Party!

On Thursday, February 7, 2019, The Wythe Hotel will generously host a dinner for 40 lucky raffle winners in their private dining room.

Winners will enjoy a three-course dinner with beer, wine, and a specialty cocktail in the gorgeous setting of the Wythe’s Copper Room. The dinner will be carefully created by their restaurant, Reynard, featuring seasonal, locally-sourced American fare.

Buy a raffle ticket for a chance to win a seat (or two) at this private dinner party, and support PS29! 100% of ticket sales goes to support programs and supplies that benefit all of our kids.

Move It! Morning - April 10th, 2019: It's Never Too Early to MOVE IT!

Join us at 7:45am, Wednesday, April 10th, for Move It! Morning, sponsored by the Wellness Committee! This is a family event, so grab your sneakers and meet us in the schoolyard for some early morning physical activity, organized by PE teacher, Kathy Nobles, and parent/Zumba-guru, Cathy Beke. Please note: This is not a drop-off event. Students must be supervised by caregivers during Move It! Morning. See you next week!

PS29 Celebrates Earth Day April 13, 2019!

Join us to celebrate Earth Day on Saturday, April 13th from 9:30am to 2pm for a PS29 Earth Day Work Day, led by primary science teacher, Tina Reres. The PS29 Children's Garden needs you! Come help get the garden ready for spring planting and teaching! We'll begin the morning with parent/child yoga from 9:30-10am--BYO mat. Sign Up to volunteer!

TONIGHT: Parent Art Night @ Jalopy! April 16, 2019

This art night brings parents together to celebrate their creativity! We'll enjoy 2 hours of comedy, musical performances, readings, and good old fun all served up by the talented parents and alumni of the PS29 community! Tuesday, April 16th @ Jalopy Theatre, 8-10pm.

PS29+ Spring Break Camp!

PS29+ will be offering Spring Break camp April 19, and April 22-26. Teachers are planning fun field trips, daily themes including STEM Day and You Can't Do That in School! Day, and much more! Visit ps29plus.com for registration and further details!

We are excited to announce the silent auction is now open for bidding! Bid now, purchase tickets or register today!

Anyone, anywhere can bid on items…even from home if you cannot attend the event on May 3rd, 2019. Mobile and online bidding is fun, active and completely secure. You can view and bid on our unique PS29 Gala + Auction silent auction items by using your smartphone, tablet or computer. Please be sure to share with neighbors, friends and family.

Spring Rummage Sale! May 5th

Join us for our annual neighborhood rummage &

recycling event on Sunday, May 5th from 11am-3pm in the PS29 schoolyard! Bring your old clothing, costumes and textiles to donate, and your old electronics to be recycled! Buy clothing and costumes for $2. Please NO plastic, toys, or books.

Come see the 5th grade play, Disney's The Lion King Jr! Friday, May 10th @ 7pm. Saturday, May 11th @ 2pm. PS29 Auditorium / Tickets $5 will be sold at the door one hour prior to the start of each show.

Final Move It! Morning, Wednesday, May 22nd!

Our last Move It! Morning of the school year will be held in the schoolyard on Wednesday, May 22nd, from 7:45am-8:25am, offering activities for ALL AGES!

We will have jump ropes, hula hoops, soccer, Zumba, basketball, and flag football to be enjoyed by PS29 families!

Please note that this is an activity intended for family participation, NOT DROP OFF. A little morning activity break before work will do us all some good, and we'll have music to help get you moving!

Taste of PS 29 Potluck! June 21st, 6-8PM in the Cafeteria

As the school year draws to an end, let’s come together again to share, enjoy and celebrate the many flavors of our school community. Bring a dish to share that is connected to your culture or a meal that’s a favorite for your family.

We will be joined by Son de Caney, a 4 piece Cuban Salsa Band that has been playing in the Metropolitan area for over 10 years! The band is comprised of Brooklynites Junior Rivera on the Cuban Tres Guitar and Peter de Jesus on percussion & congas, Peruvian saxophonist Daniel Alborato and Puerto Rican Luis Ayala on vocals and bass.

Summer Book Fair! June 10-14!

The Summer Book Fair is taking place next week, on Monday, June 10th, and Wednesday-Friday, June 12th-14th. Classroom time slots will be sent out through class parents/ teachers this week. Remember: Please send your child with small bills. No change is given during the school day.

Can you help at checkout or with the children as they book shop? VOLUNTEER HERE.

Pick up books so your child can complete the Summer Reading Challenge (forms will be available at the fair and will be backpacked home).

The annual PS29 Talent Show will be held Thursday, June 13th at 6:30PM in the auditorium!
