Super Science Saturday is here!

What is Super Science Saturday?

At Super Science Saturday children participate in workshops, explore science concepts and watch demonstrations that illustrate science concepts we all know and love. This year we’re enriching the offerings for our older students and bringing exciting new activities. Please join us for an exciting journey into all areas and disciplines of science.

This year we are excited to be joined by Pixel Academy who will lead 4th and 5th graders through a Minecraft Engineering journey. We will also have two scientists and PS 29 parents, Charlotte D’Hulst and Daylon James, showing kids how to extract their own DNA. Join them in Biohackers room as they create a darkroom to investigate fluorescent microscopy. Kids will find out how this picture relates to the human body:

PS 29 has commissioned a science theater production to be performed for the first time at Super Science Saturday 2017!

The Meanies is a series of short, comedic, non-verbal performances for young audiences inspired by environmental issues such as climate change, urban air pollution, food systems, and trash. In the style of clown and traditional trunk shows, The Meanies follows the foibles of a buffoon who just can’t make peace with the changing environment. Each episode of The Meanies is approximately 10 minutes long.

Created by Danny Gardner (Broadway’s Dames at Sea, Radio City Music Hall’s New York Spectacular, Parallel Exit,) in collaboration with environmental ecologist Jame McCray.
