Pre- Kindergarten Admissions for September 2009
Eligibility
Children born between January 1, 2005 and December 31, 2005, who will turn four years old between January 1, 2009 and December 31, 2009, and who reside in New York City who are eligible to participate in the Universal Pre-Kindergarten programs (UPK) that are offered by the New York City Department of Education.
Key Dates for Pre-Kindergarten Admissions
- Friday, March 6: Application period begins; directories and applications available in the schools and on-line
- Friday, April 3: Application period ends
- Week of May 18: Families notified regarding assignment offers
- May 18-May 29: Families pre-register at schools
All Pre-Kindergarten Admissions Information Sessions will be held from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Families are invited to attend an information session to learn about the Pre-Kindergarten Admissions process. Representatives from the Offices of Student Enrollment and Early Childhood Education will be available at each of the sessions to answer your questions. We encourage parents to attend one of these important events (the same information will be presented at each, so there is no need to attend more than one).
Translation and Interpretation services will be provided.

This is a new centralized enrollment process managed by the Office of Student Enrollment. Applications will not be accepted at individual public schools.

- Unpaid Current Gas Bill
- Unpaid Current Electric Bill
- Original Birth Certificate/Baptismal Certificate or Passport
- Immunization (Health) Record
